Volunteer Opportunities

Narberth Borough has the following available opportunities. If you are a resident of the Borough and are interested in any one of the following volunteer positions, please fill out a Citizen Board Appointment Application and email it to appointments@narberthpa.gov. Council will make appointments at a subsequent business meeting.

Environmental Advisory Council – 1 opening

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2024

The Environmental Advisory Council shall serve for a term of three years and will advise local government agencies on matters dealing with protection, conservation, management, proportion, and use of natural resources including air and water resources located within its territorial limits.

Human Relations Commission – 3 regular openings and 1 alternate opening

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2028

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2025 – Alternate

The duty of the Human Relations Commission is to protect citizens against discriminatory practices.

Parks and Recreation Board – 1 opening

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2027

The Parks and Recreation Board shall serve as an advisory body to Borough Council on issues related to parks and recreation and shall refer their conclusions, recommendations and opinions to Borough Council for appropriate action. The functions of the Board shall be:

  • To help preserve, promote, maintain and expand the recreational places, land, and offerings of the Borough;
  • To study and discuss issues and present proposed policies and programs affecting parks and recreation to the Borough Council;
  • To ensure that every citizen and organization in the Borough may enjoy and freely use, on equal terms, so far as circumstances permit, the public recreation resources and facilities of the Borough.

Planning Commission – 1 alternate opening

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2027

A Planning Commission is a body of citizens that serve within local government, acting as an advisory group to the municipal governing body on issues and policies related to planning, land use regulation, and community development. Planning Commissioners act as citizen planners and work to develop plans and implementation policies that affect how their community manages changes in growth and development.

UCC Appeals Board – 1 alternate opening

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2025

The Uniform Construction Code Appeals Board will hear and makes decisions upon appeals where there are perceived errors, special exceptions, and variances from the construction code.

Zoning Hearing Board – 1 alternate opening

  • Term Expires: 12/31/2025

The Zoning Hearing Board will hear and makes decisions upon appeals where there are perceived errors, special exceptions, and variances from the zoning code.
