Narberth Borough Council to Consider Earned Income Tax to Provide Permanent Property Tax Exemption and Dedicated Infrastructure Funding

The goal of this proposal is to make taxes more equitable for most of residents of Narberth (with the hope being that the proposed property tax relief would eliminate or reduce any EIT burden), create consistent revenue growth for the Borough in the future more aligned with inflation (as properties are only assessed when there’s major construction or demolition, while income hopefully goes up each year), and to generate new revenue for infrastructure investment by collecting EIT that residents are already paying to other jurisdictions and to collect EIT from non-residents that work in Narberth but reside in a community without an EIT.
